About The Role

North Norfolk is a stunning rural district, renowned for its beautiful coastline, expansive landscapes and vibrant communities, all within easy reach of Norwich. While it is a wonderful place to live, many residents face significant challenges in accessing and sustaining affordable housing within a highly competitive housing market. Secure, affordable and stable housing is fundamental to health, wellbeing and quality of life, and helping people achieve this can have a genuinely life-changing impact.

As our Housing Pathways Team Leader, you will lead the operational delivery of key housing services, ensuring the Council meets its statutory homelessness responsibilities whilst delivering high-quality, customer-focused services.

You will manage the Housing Pathways Team, overseeing homelessness accommodation pathways, temporary accommodation services and housing register functions. A key aspect of the role is managing the Council's temporary accommodation portfolio, ensuring accommodation is safe, suitable, compliant and provides the best possible outcomes for residents.

Working closely with landlords, housing providers, support agencies and internal teams, you will develop and strengthen accommodation pathways that help people secure and sustain settled housing. You will also drive service performance, continuous improvement and effective use of resources, ensuring residents receive an excellent service during some of the most challenging periods of their lives.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a service that has a direct and lasting impact on residents, communities and the future delivery of housing services across North Norfolk.

You will be an effective leader, capable of motivating and developing staff, driving performance and fostering a positive and collaborative team culture. You will also be confident in building strong relationships with landlords, housing providers, partner organisations and other stakeholders to increase accommodation options and deliver innovative housing solutions.

Most importantly, you will be passionate about making a difference. You will combine strategic thinking with a practical, customer-focused approach, ensuring services are delivered effectively, compliantly and with compassion.

You will bring:

  • Experience of leading and managing housing or homelessness services.

We're committed to promoting equality of opportunity for the people and communities of North Norfolk. We respect and value differences in our district and across our workforce, and we want everyone to feel included and able to play their part in making North Norfolk a great place to live, learn, work and visit. Our coast and environment are extremely important to us.

Recognising that North Norfolk faces a very real threat from climate change, the Council has declared a climate emergency.  We have developed a Net Zero strategy to support our ambitions and all staff have a role to play in meeting our carbon reduction targets.

We have a supportive culture that enables our people to learn and grow through attending courses, e-learning, and their daily job roles. We provide excellent opportunities for communication through updates from Directors and the Chief Executive. Our onsite recognised union is UNISON.

Our Cromer office is clean, modern and light, with onsite lunchtime catering and free onsite parking. As one of the largest employers in the district, we offer several benefits to all our employees:

  • discounts portal
  • salary sacrifice schemes (bikes, home electricals and EV car leasing - available after completion of probation period).

You will also enjoy:

  • a good work-life balance, with many roles following our hybrid approach to work (if your role supports hybrid working, all we ask is that you have a stable and reliable internet connection)
