About The Role

North Norfolk District Council is responsible for 34 kilometres of the most interesting and attractive coasts in the UK. Whilst our most popular coastal resorts are protected by sea defences, our complex coastal geology exposes other parts of the coast to rapid rates of coastal erosion. Responding to coastal change in such a dynamic coastal environment presents challenges that require both coastal engineering solutions and other coastal adaptation approaches, and the Council has an enviable record of successfully delivering coastal management practices in response to both.

Coastal Engineering

We are recruiting an Engineer and an Assistant Engineer, who, as part of the Coastal team, will play a leading role in the management of the coast of North Norfolk District in accordance with approved Shoreline Management Plans and relevant policies and legislation.

The Coastal Engineer will manage the Council’s coast protection assets to minimise the risk to life and property by ensuring that existing structures are maintained or renewed in a timely and effective manner, making effective use of available budgets and accessing and securing external resources where appropriate.

If you are excited by the prospect of delivering coastal management schemes, projects and initiatives to help protect property and maintain the viability of our coastal communities, follow this link for further details of how to become our next Coastal Engineer.

The Assistant Coastal Engineer will support the Coastal Engineer and Coastal Manager in the effective and efficient management of the Council’s assets playing a vital part in the preparation and delivery of programmed works. This role will play a key part in the administration and supervision of ongoing reactive repairs and maintenance of coastal structures.

If you have the enthusiasm to be an identifiable and responsive person to our communities, with the skills to help develop practical solutions to coastal engineering challenges and want to live and work in an amazing place, follow this link for further details of how to become our next Assistant Coastal Engineer.
