About The Role

North Norfolk District Council is responsible for 34 kilometres of the most interesting and attractive coasts in the UK. Whilst our most popular coastal resorts are protected by sea defences, our complex coastal geology exposes other parts of the coast to rapid rates of coastal erosion. Responding to coastal change in such a dynamic coastal environment presents challenges that require both coastal engineering solutions and other coastal adaptation approaches, and the Council has an enviable record of successfully delivering coastal management practices in response to both.

Coastal Adaptation

The Council has a long history of developing programmes to help communities and individuals to adapt to the impacts of coastal change. This, together with the rate of erosion and predicted consequences, have brought significant levels of grant funding to develop and deliver adaptation pilot projects. This highly innovative work will build on the Council’s Coastwise programme, developing and implementing plans, projects and actions over the next three years to support the sustainability of our coastal communities.

About You

We are seeking an Adaptation Team Leader to lead the multi-skilled and multi-organisational Coastwise programme and team (funded via the national Coastal Transition Accelerator Programme and Coastal Adaptation Pilot), to develop and deliver strategic and practical coastal erosion adaptation plans and actions to better prepare and benefit our local communities.

If you are adept at collaborating to achieve optimal outcomes, have the skills to manage complex projects and inspire a dedicated team, together with a knowledge of the challenges presented by the coastal environment, follow this link for further details of how to become our next Coastal Adaptation Team Leader.

So, if are ready to part of an ambitious and successful coastal team where your expertise and experience will be relied upon and your ideas welcomed, then we want to hear from you.
