About The Role

We are looking for an Assistant Countryside Ranger to join our small team who ensure the implementation of practical work at the Council’s woodlands and informal open spaces across North Norfolk, maintaining them as high quality, welcoming and accessible public spaces. The team are responsible for the day-to-day management of these sites for community recreation, nature conservation and forestry.

We are seeking individuals who can contribute to all areas of the service, including, but not limited to:

  • practical woodland and conservation management
  • providing guidance and assistance to visitors
  • looking after volunteers
  • helping to deliver school, group, and family events
 
 
 

About You

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, resourceful, adaptable to change, and able to work in a fast paced and often reactive environment.

You will hold a minimum level 2 NPTC chainsaw qualification and have a good standard of general education. You will have previous experience of working in a customer focussed environment as well as knowledge of conservation, biodiversity and woodland management.

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, as well as being proficient in the use of IT. Problem solving, promotion & marketing skills, and the ability to carry out physical work are all requirements of the successful applicant.  

Previous experience working with children and volunteers is desirable but not essential.
 

A flexible approach to working hours and access to transport is essential.
