About The Role

We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for doing the right thing for communities, businesses and the environment to lead our Public Protection team. The team are responsible for delivering a range of front-facing regulatory services, including food safety, licensing, and health and safety in diverse and unique environments. 
As the team leader, you will ensure that the Council meets its ambitious objectives and statutory obligations whilst growing and nurturing the team's talents to promote best practices and manage change.
 
The role is based in our Cromer offices, and you will need to travel across the district as necessary. North Norfolk is a fantastic place to live, work and visit. It covers 360 sq miles of coastal and rural environment, with over 100,000 people living in 120 distinct communities. Our district is one of England's top holiday destinations and a place where people positively choose to live. 

About You

As the Public Protection Team Leader, you will be an effective communicator with good interpersonal skills. With the ability to supervise a team of professional officers, you will have good investigative, decision making and problem-solving skills. It is essential that you can manage your time effectively and work well as part of a team. You will excel in this role if you have experience in food safety, health and safety, or licensing and good people management skills. You will have a detailed understanding of the effective application of related legislation, along with knowledge and experience of enforcement work.

You will need to have:

  • a qualification in Environmental Health
  • membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health

Whilst the successful candidate must demonstrate practical leadership, management, and motivational skills, we would be willing to support the successful candidate in achieving a professional management qualification.
