About The Role

North Norfolk is a fantastic place to live, work and visit – covering over 360 sq miles of coastal and rural environment, with a population of over 100,000 people living in 120 distinct communities, our District is one of England’s top holiday destinations and a place where people positively choose to live.

If you are interested in work on a temporary basis, flexible hours of work or to broaden your experiences in a different working environment, then our Temporary Register may be suitable for you.

NNDC operates a Temporary Register from which managers within the Council can select temporary staff to fill any temporary vacancies that may arise within their section.

Managers will consider the Temporary Register and select applications from individuals who closely match the skills and experience required for the vacancy. Suitable individuals will then be asked to come in for an informal chat, which could lead to an offer of temporary work.

The main area of work available to those on the Temporary Register is for administrative / clerical staff.

About Us

We're committed to promoting equality of opportunity for the people and communities of North Norfolk. We respect and value difference in our district and across our workforce, and we want everyone to feel included and able to play their part in making North Norfolk a great place to live, learn, work and visit.

Our coast and environment are really important to us. We are part of Coastal Partnership East, an organisation with responsibility for our coastline from Holkham to Felixstowe in Suffolk. We have a net zero strategy, and a team of people working to deliver these important initiatives.

As one of the largest employers in the district, we offer a number of benefits that are open to all employees. We have a really supportive culture of enabling our people to learn and grow through attending courses, e-learning, and their day to day job roles. Our office in Cromer is clean, modern and light with onsite lunchtime catering.

We have an active health and well-being group with a new strategy, mental health first aiders, domestic abuse change champions, employee assistant program, and employee discounts portal.

We have a great forum for communication with regular updates from Directors and Chief Executive, employee voice through our Staff Focus Group, and great working relationship with Unison, our onsite recognised union.

Most people that work for North Norfolk District Council are able to enjoy a great work life balance, as part of our hybrid approach to work. If your role supports hybrid working, all we ask is that you have a stable and reliable internet connection.

In terms of the numbers, if you are new to the public sector, you’ll enjoy 24 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, and when you’ve been with us for five years, this increases to 29 days (assuming the role is full time).
